2018 Russian River Rodeo Queen – Sarah McKnight
My name is Sarah Mcknight I was born in Santa Rosa, California. I grew up a little bit in Coeur d’Alene Idaho, for about eight years, but moved back here to Petaluma California. I graduated from Analy high school, I go to the Santa Rosa Junior college now. I try to go to church as often as possible. In Idaho I was part of a small group, and the youth group, now I just go on the Sundays I can. Some personal success I have achieved that’s made me the person I am today is being able to show my horse in 4-H growing up, and winning grand champion for english and western pleasure. My drill team and I at the Petaluma junior riding club, made it to cow palace and competed In the novice division, one first in all our class and first overall, we were able to ride in the grand entry at GNR, which was a great experience, because I did it with a team, we needed each other to make the team come true. My future plans for school are to get my animal science degree at the Santa Rosa junior college, and specialize into being a horse vet assistant, hopefully transfer to a four year. Reasons for my interest in riding and horses is the love I have for it. If I’m having a bad day I can count on going to my horse and her making my day better just with us syncing into one when I ride. It has taught me responsibility, how to care for something other then just taking care of yourself, hard work, how to save money and spend it properly, your a team it’s not just about the rider. I chose to compete for the “Miss Russian river rodeo” title because I think it’s a good opportunity for my to get out and try new things, and it’s something I have always wanted to do is be a rodeo queen. I’ve always looked up to girls who have been rodeo queens as my role models. I would benefit from being crowned because It would be a good experience and I could show little ones at the rodeo life is about, and get more people to ride horses and be apart of this awesome type of community. Ever since I was little I wanted to do this because of me being a little girl watching these girls I want to be able to do that to, have little kids look up to me and I can show them how amazing the life with horses is.
